Zorn – Self-titled LP
Previously I described the debut EP by Philadelphia’s Zorn as “something like Nasa Space Universe meets early Die Kruezen and Wolves In The Throne Room!” – and that still fits as a comparison for their debut full-length, although you can maybe add-on some Accused, Devil Master and G.I.S.M. too. Gaining increased notoriety for their theatrical, and (literally) scorching live shows – with flaming swords, makeup, and leather corsets (witness the back cover imagery, non-believers) – Zorn are wild, fast and crazy; and, if things are right in the world, they are destined for a cult-like underground following. It is important that come the future day when you are asked by your hipster grandchildren, “wow, you were around at the same time as Zorn?”, you are able to answer, “yes, and I bought their records and was really into them, too.” Otherwise, after your hologram conversation has ended, they will mutter amongst themselves, through their telepathic implants, “ach, what an old phoney”.
