Enablers – “Some Gift” LP
Active since 2002, San Francisco post-rockers with a stream of releases behind them, including a couple of albums on Neurot Records, this is their seventh full-length, released on Somerset’s own Wrong Speed Records. The vocals by poet Pete Simonelli follow in the enchanting tradition of spoken word narratives (as in, Slint-meets-Mike Watt), and I find myself immediately thinking of Lungfish… and also the last recordings by Oxbow. Enablers are also heavily steeped in the legacy of those post rock labels of the 90s such as Quarterstick, Southern and City Slang, and no-doubts this is a band with family tree that entwines with these labels.
