TOEHEADS / THE STOOLS – Split LP

Two variations on a theme of modern day garage punk, both from Detroit, Michigan. The Stools have a previous EP on Third Man Records and the Feelin’ Fine 7″ was released by Drunken Sailor just last year – these guys have Motor City pumping through them like engine oil. It’s The Stooges and MC5 by way of Negative Approach. Done wild and fast with a youthful ferocity and a hipster crushing aggression. There’s a little mix of 60’s snarl, a la The Makers, in there too. The vinyl debut for their neighbours Toeheads showcases their high-power blend of early Mudhoney and Gun Club/Jon Spencer Blues Explosion – delivered with a combusting hardcore energy that is fast, hard and loud. Makes a glorious racket.
