Altar of Eden – “Chimeras” LP
Originally released on tape cassette format by Sound Grotesca in 2021 and given renewed life on vinyl in 2022 via Drunken Sailor. The second LP by these American post-punkers (led by Albert Limones of Nosferatu, Creamers, and also featuring a current member of …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead). Recalling elements of Bauhaus and Christian Death, but most of all I am reminded of UK Decay, especially their album For Madmen Only – which is an excellent record, well worth checking out if you like your anarcho punk flavoured with gothic-horror romanticism. And for that reason I’m digging this Alter Of Eden LP, with its darkened blend of effects laden guitars, tribal drums and haunting vocal chants.
