GENERACION SUICIDA – “Regeneracion” LP

Ten new tracks from this Los Angeles punk band, four years since their last 12″, Reflejos. Shimmering, melodic guitar hovers over a rapid beats and spikey basslines, to be topped by raging vocals that shift between shouting and singing. I detect that The Cure may be a shared favourite amongst the band, (but not in an obvious way). There are also echoes of the Wipers (it’s the obligatory reference for anything with a melodic post-punk leaning), but little else in the way of an American influence, the vibe is very Latino… it’s interesting how a different language (to English) can go a long way to changing the overall sound… but in ways that are hard to define…
