Christie Front Drive – self-titled LP
Back in the day, certain hardcore kids started studying and emulating the shoe-gazer indie bands of the early ’90s, and the result was lush, new, melodic sounds that maintained the muscular dynamics of hardcore and the no-bullshit values of punk. Call it emo if you like, but music as unique and majestic as CFD defies lazy catagorisation (even if they were the band that, to their credit, defined the term emo more than anyone else). This is their one, and only, full-length album, to follow-up the previous 7″s and 12″, originally released on Caulfield Records in 1996.
