Part Chimp – “Drool” LP
The sixth and most recent album by this super- loud London institution. Back in the days of their Rock Action albums I always thought of Part Chimp as the UK’s noisier, heavier version of And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead (as an unrelenting a Trail Of Dead fanboy I look for them, even where I can’t necessarily find ’em); all these years later, and Part Chimp are actually much closer to a distinctly British tradition of volume-eleven noise-rock, (from Head of David, Walkingseeds, Fudge Tunnel back in the ’80s, to Mugstar, Hey Colossus etc. in more recent decades) a titanic slab of fuzz, sludge, drone, psyche, (etc etc) hard rock.
