The fourth album from the multi-talented, multi-instrumentalist songwriter. Recorded in 2020, after a relocation from the East Coast of America to Los Angeles, by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Hard Girls, Joyce Manor) at Oakland’s Atomic Garden. A perfect distillation of everything thing that makes melodic punk rock so bloomin’ fabulous. I’m reluctant to call it ‘pop-punk’, over the decades so many cartoon carboard cut-outs reduced that term to generic tedium, but our man here manages to combine the best elements of Jawbreaker, Propagandhi, Alkaline Trio, Broadway, Marked Men, Nofx etc. into something fresh and relevant for today. Gushing with vitality, raging anthems and self-deprecating, smart-guy righteousness. Someone has called this album “genuinely the best pop punk album ever made”, and I’m not inclined to disagree with that.
