Description

Deadguy – “Work Ethic” 12″ EP

Back in 1993 the arrival of the first Deadguy 7″, Whitemeat, was like some kind of wish fulfilment: fronted by Tim Singer, fresh out of No Escape; teamed-up with Dave Rosenberg from Mouthpiece/Flagman/Crud Is A Cult and Chris Corvino from Lifetime; to be than later joined on second guitar, in time for the recording of the second EP in 1994 (Work Ethic) by Keith Huckins, who was not long departed from legendary metal-hardcore pioneers, Rorschach (by way of the short lived Die 116). Did they fulfil the wish? The first two EPs, compiled here on this 12″, yes, absolutely, they did. It may have withered away slightly by the time of their releases on Victory Records (for Keith and Tim to jump ship to revive and reinvnent themselves as Kiss It Goodbye), but the crazed, super-twisted, metallic-hardcore-meets-math-rock of Deadguy must have acted as some kind of mentor for folk who were soon to become members of Botch, Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge etc.
