A punk band from Australia. And that is exactly what they sound like: a punk band from Australia. Biggest and most important reference point for Melbourne’s Civic is peak era Saints – it’s got the drunken swagger, the killer hooks, and that distinct belligerent attitude that was delivered by Chris Bailey with his effortless cool. Packs a few other suprises, and on the occassions when the adrennalin eases off, a little aggresive indie pop sneaks through (sort of like Royal Headache, with an obligitory Mark E Smith vocal snarl – so no doubt 6music’s Mark Riley will be hot onto ’em). Phew, what a bleedin’ rager. Garage power pop with a raw, raucous joie de vivre.
