As long as its lo-fi, scrappy, and rough-edged, garage punk is versatile, soaking-in whatever influences the libraries of music offer-up: in the 1990’s important labels like Estrus, Crypt and Rip Off gave us many cool bands that took their cues from 77 punk and 60’s garage pop; these days, another golden era in garage punk, we get Chain Whip, Hank Wood, Civic, who seem to take their cues from 80’s hardcore as much as anywhere else. Same goes for Big Break, who “occur somewhere in the cracks between hardcore, new wave and egg punk.” Egg punk? Who the hell comes up with gibberish like this? People like me I guess…
