The debut EP by an exciting new hardcore outfit from from San Diego, California. This one threw me, and in a good way. The first few seconds, I’m thinking, hmm, ok, a good quality version of Lifetime/kid Dynamite… but, I’ve heard that done before. And then, oowh, this records takes off in whole new directions, something of a revelation, and it is bang-on. Dischord seeps into their range of influences like a mainlined detox at the health farm. Which draws immediate sonic connections to Praise and Fiddlehead. Pumped-up and re-energised with modern hardcore youthfulness, despite re-inventing the spirit of Jawbox, Blue Tip, Fugazi, these guys totally own their individual sound and style. Is San Diego the location for a new Revolution Summer? Exciting idea…
