Warkrusher – “Armistice” LP
Montreal’s battle crust crushers march forth with their debut album. Punks getting high on Bolt Thrower. There’a even a Warhammer vibe to the sleeve art too. Warkrusher are also paying to the masters of stenchcore-crust-punk, and to quote MRR’s review, “From the logo, the cover, the songs, and overall vibe, they nail the fuck out of it.” Reminds me of a conversation I had with a member of Physique who couldn’t believe that they reminded me of watching early Doom, only, by comparison, and going by my distant teenage memories, modern day Physique were loads louder, more intense and all round more electrifying. By the same token, yes, Warkrusher probably don’t appreciate how much better they sound compared to debut recordings made by Axegrinder, Hellbastard, Deviated Instinct etc. And you, know, live, early Bolt Thrower… were not that great.
