Alteri / Gränslandet – Split LP
Two versions of dark, heavy blackened hardcore: Germany’s Alteri are based around harsh, dual vocals, metallic riffing, growling basslines and quick, dynamic beats – it’s blackened punk with a Deathwish twist; Sweden’s Gränslandet are speed-driven crust punk in the From Ashes Rise vein (and yes, a little Victims/Tragedy too), with an added dollop of sludge. Both bands swipe away the empties form the night before and clear a space so that they can bring something new to the communal kitchen table. Tried and tested formulas, but re-invented, freshened-up, and stamped with their own individual mark. There’s a lot of sonic rewards to sink your teeth (and ears) into here.
