Garrison – “The Bend Before The Break” LP

Twenty three years later, Iodine Recordings presents the second EP from the Boston post-hardcore band that was originally released on Revelation in 1999. Now on full-length 12″ format, including the two tracks that were previously only available on the CD version, plus rare and previously unreleased material that spans the band’s history from 1998 to 2004, including their first 7″ and their split EP with Hundred Reasons, all fully remastered and featuring all-new artwork by Dan McCarthy.  I always felt Garrison fell-short on the recognition and credit that they deserved and should have been owed to them, for they worked hard at perfecting a solid take on 90’s post hardcore (Quicksand, Shift, Sensefield, Sunny Day Real Estate etc.) – a style that that they drove hard and fast with a super-charged energy that probably came direct from the influence of a couple of Drive Like Jehu albums. The first EP, Twenty-Four, released by Espo Records, and included on this reissue, is an especially under-appreciated gem of the late 1990s.
