Stages In Faith – “Delside” LP
Melodic punk of this calibre doesn’t often emerge from within these shores, certainly not on a full-length album – so London’s Stages In Faith earn themsleves a beery cheer and a mis-timed high-five. Farside comparisons always trail beside these guys, and it does still apply here (especially in the vocals), but add some UK influences, too: Hooton 3 Car, Brocolli and Snuff, all come to mind – and then update it (remember, Stages In Faith recently toured alongside Fiddlehead). Delside, their debut album, following-on from two previous 7″s, takes things further – managing to be broader and more diverse in it’s range of styles and influences: one song goes from a trippy Ozzy/Black Sabbath vocal effect, to another that shouts-out Moving Target’s Brave Noise; followed by a vocal interplay that goes all Snuffsaidbutgorblimeyguv… and it all works brilliantly.
