SPLIT SYSTEM – “Vol. 1” LP

A Melbourne-based outfit featuring Jackson Reid Briggs (Jackson Reid Briggs & The Heaters) on vocals and Arron Mawson (Stiff Richards) on guitar. Seconds-in, my brain went from 60’s Psyche to Hank Wood and the Hammerheads… to then settle-down into a some heads-down speed and feverish energy, with tunes that are sung as a rival to Royal Headache at their best. Classic Aussie punk (I’m hearing The Saints especially, right now as I type) pushed to a new level of forceful punchiness. Chris Bailey would unreservedly approve. “This band knows how to rock and roll, and there are literally no songs on this album that don’t entirely kick ass”. True dat.
