Description
Sonic Youth – “Evol” LP
Originally released on SST Records in 1986, Sonic Youth’s fourth full-length marked a transitional period, as the band moved more towards conventional compositions with hints of melody, while still retaining the no-wave experimentalism and dissonance of the previous recordings. A clear progression from the patchiness of Bad Moon Rising – this one is full of juicy goodness from start to finish. Although, both albums featured a vocal contribution from Lydia Lunch, Evol was also notable as the album that marked the arrival of drummer Steve Shelly of the Crucifucks.
