The Austin-Texas fourth album, it continues the band’s blurring of the lines that separate screamo from black metal, and also extends their voyage into new zones of noise and terror. Heavy, nightmarish, swathes of distortion push upwards reaching wild, symphonic heights; to then drop down into tension and a pace that is much slower and that shares more in common with off-kilter noise rock. Then you get to side two… (and the cello comes out, followed by other orchestral instruments). Exciting and unsettling, dripping with eldritch horror and menace. It’s an album that sonically lives up to the expectations of both its title and the Blinko-esque pen and ink sleeve artwork.
