PAYDAY – “Second to None” LP

The name Payday immediately put me in mind of early ’90s Clevo hardcore, mainly due to the 7″ by Confront with the same name – and it’s probably no coincidence because these London-based straight edgers possess a sound that is like the entire Only The Strong 7″ compilation distilled down into one band. And lets not forget influences closer to home: most obviously Knuckledust. Payday are the modern day link between two Insights – the Cleveland one of Victory Records; and the London based one from around the same time who released records on Meantime and Rugger Bugger Records.
