Description

Native Nod – “This Can’t Exist” LP

The three 7″s compiled onto one 12″: the s/t debut of 1992, Bread from 1993, and New Compositions And Arrangements For The Zither from 1995. Essentially, the same as the Today Puberty, Tomorrow The World that was released by Gern Blandsten in 1995 (as a CD). Native Nod were a fresh, young band that emerged from the New York scene of the early 1990’s. They were a revelation. If you heard any of their 7″s back in the day – with their haunting poetry and unconventional musical timing – it would stop you dead in your tracks. They combined the fiery brashness of Born Against with the sensibilities of Rites Of Spring, plus the mathy tension of Slint’s Spiderland. The multi-talented Chris Leo went on, of course, to also front Van Pelt and then The Lapse.
A reminder, should you need one, that Gern Blandsten released some amazing records in the 1990s.
Comes with 20-page booklet (
liner notes by music journalist Jenn Pelly) and scores of unseen photographs and ‘ephemera’.
