Mudhoney – “Superfuzz Bigmuff” LP
Seattle’s finest purveyors of classic garage punk and underground hard rock. Some call it a 12″ EP, but I agree with guitarist Steve Turner that this Mudhoney recording, released by Sub Pop in 1990, is their debut album. Named after two of the band’s favourite guitar pedals: the Univox Super-Fuzz and the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff (which is about as much of an insight as anyone ever needed in order to understand the sound of this album). I’m too much of a wimpy coward to ride a motorbike, but this has always been one of those records that made me wish I did.
