Meat Puppets – “Monsters” LP
The sixth studio album, released in 1989, by the Arizona rock band, who formed, under the influence of early hardcore punk, back in 1980. Recently repressed by the band as part of the remastered reissues of their SST Records catalog. Monsters was a conscious step towards a more commercial rock sound. While it mixed the essential Meat Puppets essences of the previous albums, an increased metal influence sets this one apart. And of course, it’s still heavily-concentrated Meat Puppets, and it still sounds bloody fab.
