Mau Maus – “Society’s Rejects” LP
Mau Mau’s were second generation/early ’80s punk from Sheffield that, along with Blitz, The Varukers, English Dogs etc. existed concurrent with the emerging US hardcore scene – with shared enthusism for speed, volume and attitude – while still firmly belonging to the spikes and painted leather of hometown UK 1982; hanging-out in the market square on a saturday afternoon; homebrew for when the giro runs out; Thatcher tortures beagles with nuclear war; shouting back abuse at passing ford capris.
A 21 track collection of their Pax and Rebellion 7″s, including Society’s Rejects, No Concern, Facts Of War and Tear Down The Walls, plus Give Us a Future from the “Punk Dead – Nah Mate, The Smell Is Jus Summink In Yer Underpants Innit” compilation on Pax Records (and wow, what a compilation that was). The LP comes with a A4 Booklet of lyrics, reviews and archive.
