The third studio album from the Queens, New York hardcore pioneers, originally released in 1994. Remixed and remastered by Chris Collier (Korn, Prong), “the album finally sounds as huge as it should have in the first place”. I don’t know this personally, I admit, at the time I considered them to be wannabe commercial alt rock. But time has been generous, and the alt-rock/post hardcore paradigms have been stretched and re-shaped ever since. This is a record that fits comfortably alongside the New York bands that I was listening to in the mid 90s, such as Quicksand, Into Another and Shift. I often get things wrong, and I certainly did back then. This album sounds great, with a potent, hard-grooving rhythm section, and sung vocals that are perfectly free of any cringe factor. Masters that were ahead of the game.
