Jets To Brazil – “Four Cornered Night” Double LP
The anticipated follow-up to 1998’s Orange Rhyming Dictionary, two years later, (and recently joined by Van Pelt’s guitarist Bryan Maryansky), the New York based ‘after-hardcore’ band returned with another epic-length collection of highly crafted pop songs. Successfully juggling introspective melancholy with upbeat jauntiness. A strange, unique recording, but in the context of what other leftfield American bands – Chisel, The Lapse, Burning Airlines, and Dismemberment Plan – were doing at the same point in time, this album makes even more sense with hindsight.
