Hüsker Dü – “The Living End” Double LP
The are dozens of unofficial Hüsker Dü live recordings out there in vinyl land. I can’t vouch for any of them. Except, I can with this one. An official album, originally released on CD in 1994, 24 tracks from across the years, serving as career ‘best of’, and taken from various live sets that took place on their final North American tour of 1987 (hard to believe now that they played Glastonbury main stage that same year, too). Sound quality is consistently great (sometimes better than the studio originals), and highlights include an electric-guitar version of “Hardly Getting Over It”; old classics such as “Data Control” and “In A Free Land”; a blistering Ramones cover version; favourites “Celebrated Summer”, “Divide And Conquer”, and”It’s Not Funny Anymore”. If you think you have every Hüsker Dü album, but you don’t have this – think again.
