Description

Groundwork  – “Today We Will Not Be Invisible Nor Silent” LP

A political hardcore band from Tuscan, Arizona. The reissue of their era-defining album by a band that were key players in a scene that developed out of the early 1990’s, whereby the predominant hardcore of the day – the type that was coming out on Revelation, Combined Effort, Wardance, etc. – was slowed down, and made heavier, and chuggier. Consequently the intensity went up a level. To trace back these roots is to partially trace the origin of what became known, for better and (all too often) worse, as metalcore. And it was here that bands like Converge and Botch would have taken their inspiration: the likes of Downcast, Unbroken, Undertow, No Escape, Resurrection, Chokehold, and not least Groundwork. I don’t mind rose-tinting my testicles and telling y’all they were good times for us faithful few. Originally released on Bloodlink Records in 1994, shortly after the band’s split, the reissue of their album has been lovingly restored and remastered from the master reels.
