Gridiron – “No Good At Goodbyes” LP
A debut full-length for the guys from Never Ending Game, Year Of The Knife, and Payback, these nine tracks bring to mind heavy, streetwise, hip-hop-inspired hardcore made big in the ’90s by bands like Fury of Five, E-Town Concrete, Biohazard and Downset. Its fast, tight, frantic. And they have a pretty impressive grip on some crushing metal-riffs to get your head bobbing, hard. You can so easily tumble into a deep pit of cheese playing this style of crossover hardcore, but, thankfully, Gridiron don’t fall at all. A solid release, completed by some guest vocals coming from Brody King of God’s Hate and Jay from Mindforce. Recorded and mixed by Andy Nelson at Bricktop Studios, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege.
