Funkadelic – “America Eats Its Young” LP
The politically charged double album of 1972, featuring a new P-Funk line up, with Eddie Hazel and Bernie Worrell joined by members of U.S.(United Soul) and James brown’s band (most notably Bootsy Collins). As for George Clinton, he played less of role on this recording, and you can tell, making this a less typical Funkadelic album – dropping some of the heavy psychedelia in favour of more serious-minded, hard-groove, rock-outs. While the current of subversive attitude is even stronger than ever, and in the context of Nixon’s America, just the album title alone is political dynamite.
