Fugazi – “Instrument” LP
The original soundtrack music from the film of the same name, with tracks culled from demos and various sources from the years 1988-1998 (primarily instrumental and unreleased songs). Released in 1999 to coincide with the release of Jem Cohen’s lo-fi documentary film, the album version of Instrument explores the more experimental and ambient side of Fugazi, drifting into post-hardcore art rock and providing – at the time – a welcome bridge, and breathing space, in between End Hits and The Argument. An odd-ball Fugazi album, but not without pleasant surprises, not least the track I’m So Tired, a piano ballad gently sung by MacKaye.
