Ecstatic Vision – “Under the Influence” 12″
The Philadelphian space-heads jam-out tracks from some of their favourite influences: two Hawkwind tracks, which obviously comes as no surprise (“Born to Go” and, of course “Masters Of The Universe”), plus a version of MC5‘s “Come Together”; the other three covers are a lot less obvious: concentrating on Zambia, with songs by Zambian multi-instrumentalist Keith Mlevhu, 70’s Zamrock band Amanaz, and Chrissy Zebby Tembo (also known for drumming in Ngozi Family). This is band you absolutely want to hear play at 3 o’clock in the morning surrounded by an ancient monument somewhere in Wiltshire. Under the influence? Not arf.
