Denver, Colorado doom-prog four-piece with their fourth full-length album, a follow-up their 2017 A Wake In Sacred Waves. Dense, multi layered and complex, one of the more unique bands in today’s doom/dark/progressive metal circles. What elevates this above the typical ArcTanGent pseudo-muso-beard-stroke, (with an overly stylised photo-shoot for Revolver somewhere by a lake, in a forest, near a mountain), are the exceptional skills of Kelly Schilling, backed by keyboard player Lauren Vieira, both of whom are in possession of an impressively broad vocal range – from howling witch banshee to Kate Bush lullabies – all of which manage to captivate your ears. The Music – with it’s flute, sax, piano, mandolin – is always competently pushing things forward, often driven by rolls of pummelling drums, but ultimately takes second place in terms of what holds your attention. An engrossing record that is ideal for anyone who digs Jarboe, King Woman, Oathbreaker, Esben and the Witch, Panapticon, Wolves in the Throne Room, Deaf Heaven etc.
