BACKSLIDER – “Psychic Rot” LP

Finally, a second full-length from this Philadelphia, PA fastcore/grind outfit (debut LP, Motherfucker was released by Six Weeks in 2016). Combining dirty sludge with grindcore and knuckle-dragging hardcore, but at its heart a power violence record (in the same respect as the records by Nails). It’s pummeling, it’s crushing, and it “collides with mangled rhythms and nightmarish psychedelia”. They take the well-known formula into exciting new places, never quite heard before, and if you are a fan of Hatred Surge, Warthog, Nails, RJC, Peace Test you will absolutely embrace this one… To Live A Lie is completely smashing this style of progressive-grind/power violence at the moment.
