Artificial Brain – Self-titled LP
Progressive death metal from Valley Stream, New York, USA. A third full-length further distinguishes Articial Brain from their death metal peers through an emphasis on otherworldly chordal structures and off-kilter, high-end melodies which accompanies the more typical blast beats and guttural, corpse-fart, demonic vocals. Highly technical and disconcertingly mind altering – it’s a challenge, for sure, but the avoidance of heavy, down-tuned guitar riffing is a constant delight for the ears, keeping it space-bright and cosmic. Their final recording with original vocalist Will Smith (of Afterbirth), and helped out on this recording with contributions from members of Nocturnus A.D., Gorguts, Miasmatic Necrosis and Krallice.
