Angel Hair – “Insect Immortality” LP
Combining nearly all the releases by the proto-screamo five-piece of the early nineties. They began life in Boulder, Colorado in 1992, later moving to San Diego, becoming further embroiled in the wild and inventive hardcore scene that had sprung-up in that town, centred around like-minded bands: Heroin, Antioch Arrow, Swing Kids, Clikitat Ikatowi and Mohinder. All of whom shared the same intense mission to broadcast a new style of chaotic, self-destructive, heavily DIY, post-hardcore . Fired-up on Rites Of Spring and local heroes, Drive Like Jehu. In 1997 Gravity Records released an Angel Hair discography CD called Pregnant With The Senior Class. This is essentially the same collection, confusingly now called Insect Immortality (which is a play on the title of their Insect Mortality 12″ album that was released in 1995 ). And like that discography CD this vinyl repress includes all the tracks from the debut 7″ (on Gravity, 1994), and the 12″, plus the tracks from the split 7″s shared with Fisticufts Bluff, Bare Minimum and Kersoene 454. With the difference being that they have now been re-mixed and remastered – so that this diamond in the rough sounds a little less rough.
