Hailing for Tijuana, Mexico, the latest offering from Violencia– a twelve track EP, (or a mini-album, if you prefer, or, hell, a standard length hardcore album. I mean, who’s got the stopwatch?) – starts off with a dark wave vibe, but as soon as the dynamic drumming kicks in, you know something unpredictable is about to happen: blastbeats that turn into Los Crudos-style stompiness, with the political attitude to boot, and then returning once again to dark brooding moments that are kind of post-punk. A tense hardcore rager that is rich and varied, and that coheres together just fine, making a style and sound that is distinctly their own.
