VILE SPIRIT – “Scorched Earth” LP

The debut album from a new force in UK hardcore punk: formed three years ago, Vile Spirit emerged from the prolific Brighton/South Coast scene, with connections to other local bands such as Gutter Knife, Saliva, Imposter and Chubby and the Gang. Gruff, churning metallic edged punk  – it’s a sound that allies itself to fellow label mates Mere Mortal, and it is one that also triggers – for me at least – memories of late 80s/early 90s UK punk…. like the ‘slower’ moments of Heresy… or the post Heresy band, Force Fed… and from a similar period in time, Filthkick, too.
