Vein.fm – “This World Is Going To Ruin You” LP (Deathwish Exclusive)
Finally, the long awaited follow-up to 2018’s Errorzone from the super-intense Boston metalcore group. Not many albums come pre-loaded with quite this much anticipation and expectation… Recorded in the middle of lock-down, holed-up in a New Jersey studio with Grammy-winning producer Will Putney, 12 tracks delivered in 32-minutes, and with guest appearances from rapper Bones, Jeff Smith of Jeromes Dream and Thursday’s Geoff Rickly.
The Hyrda Head influence has been stretched even further – maybe a little less Botch than before, (with a stronger Converge vibe instead, maybe? I’m hearing a Jane Doe moment as I type) – a progression that encroaches upon nu-metal territory I guess, but that’s not a genre I know much about, so I can’t be certain, but this defintely is a dangerous and deeply unsetteling sensory overload. Violence, adrennalin and anxiety exploding in a dozen different directions, but occasionaly balanced by calmer breaks for contrast.
These copies are the limited Deathwish exclusive variant.
It’s an expensive record – I haven’t opened up the cellaphane wrap, but I belive all sorts of high-end graphics are concealed within the gatefold sleeve, including a poster and 24 page booklet.
