Ubik – “Next Phase” LP
Boistrous post-punk from Melbourne. The vocals and drumming are angrier and punker than you might expect from a contemporary band who have taken-on an early 80’s indie-punk influence (they describe themselves as “Catchy brat-beat with a little sprinkling of anarcho goodness”). This follows on from the self-titled 7″ of 2018. I don’t know how popular or fashionable this style is these days, all I know is I haven’t enjoyed anything as much as this on Iron Lung records in some time, and it should definitely be of interest to anyone who digs fellow Aussies, BB And The Blips, Terremoto and Nasho.
