Subhumans – “From The Cradle To The Grave” LP
The second album for the West Country punks, recorded by John Loder at Southern Studios during October 1983, a few months after the departure of original member/bassist Grant, and then released on their Bluurg label in May 1984. Kept from the No. 1 spot in the independent charts by New Order, (the tossers!). Nine classic blasts of rowdy, high-charged punk rock on side one, with a distinct step upwards in terms of sound quality and musicianship; and then their one-song magnus opus on side two. A progressive concept album? Yeah, half of it is, and why the fuck not? Subhumans ruled. Subhumans could do whatever they damn well pleased. Always sounded bloody great.
