Staticlone – “Cabotinage / …Of Light” Flexi 7″
Listening to the debut vinyl release for this new Philadelphia-based band I was struck by the musical suss and capability that was on demonstration. Only to then discover on a further internet search that Staticlone consists three quarters of Blacklisted, including the distinct vocals and lyrics of front man George Hirsch. Now it makes sense, that’s why this two track flexi sounds so good. Where Blacklisted were of their time, this new version of the band takes in a broader and older range of influences; additional elements of Motorhead, High On Fire, Nausea, Venom, Celtic Frost, and, by their own reckoning, Misfits/Samhain, too. Gruffer, grindier and darker than before.
