Unapologetically and intentionally frantic and unsettling, Portland’s Rigorous Institution have absolutely no intention of brightening-up your day. Quite the opposite. And all the better for it. Their third 7″ EP, and it continues their march towards the eternal abyss one creepy lunge at a time. Combining the atomspheric synths and awkward tribal rhythms of Killing Joke with the malevolence of Venom; and yes, of course, early Amebix too. At the same time, they also manage to sound completely unlike anybody else, which warrants a beery cheer of appreciation.
