Portrayal of Guilt / Slow Fire Pistol – split 7″
Austin’s highly prolific Portrayal of Guilt and Atlanta’s newcomers Slow Fire Pistol united together to release a split 7”. Portrayal’s side pushes them even further-out into the nihilistic extremes of blackened, heavy, screamo-noise; on the flip-side, Slow Fire Pistol explore the (comparitively) lighter side of emotive hardcore, recalling Raein, pageninetynine, Envy, and, going back a little further, Yaphet Kotto and Portraits Of Past. Five minutes of contrasting tension-to-urgency, that builds and builds to an intensely exciting climax… I havent heard anything as good done in this style of screamo in a very long time… striking an excellent balance of rabid ferocity and chaos with a tight, structured craftsmanship. Dig it.
