Neon Piss – Self-titled LP
The one and only album from this melodic DIY punk band from the San Francisco Bay Area. Active from 2010 to 2013, at the same time (and musical location) as bands such as Crusades, Criminal Code and Tenement. Melodies that were banged out with plenty of bile and energy, and with an undercurrent of post-punk darkness (Zounds and the Wipers, maybe?), this record stood-out for me at the time, and it still warrants a re-investigation . A rich vein of power-pop-punk -with a frantic energy and enticing edge of desperation – lies within. Deranged were on top of their game when this was released in 2012, and this album is typical of their record label’s quality. Really, the only thing counting against Neon Piss….. was their name.
