Malcria – “Fantasias Histericas” LP
Hardcore punk from Mexico City. I’m not simple-minded enough to equate every single South American hardcore band with Los Crudos merely because of the shared Hispanic language, but, honestly, Malcria do indeed share the same levels of thrashing speed and shouty intensity of the 90’s Chicago super heroes of DIY hardcore punk. There’s a tangible level of authentic rage and powerful passion here, putting forward a very strong case for manic, politicised hardcore punk still being as relevant and crucial today as it ever was.
