INGROWN – “Gun” LP

A blazing mix of punk, grindcore and death metal from this Boise, Idaho, trio. The speed, the heaviness, the titanic breakdowns, and the sheer face pumelling ferocity instantly brings to mind Nails and Regional Justice Center. Aided by the studio/production work of Weekend Nacho’s Andy Nelson – and it sounds absolutely massive. Anyone who knows their hardcore history-geography will make the connection with Septic Death – which does feel relevant, ‘cos sure enough, Ingrown are that good, and they share the Boise legacy.
The high price of this 12″ is a nasty downside – I’m not sure why it is so expensive (?), other than this debut album comes in a full colour sleeve, with coloured vinyl, in a limited pressing of 500. Otherwise, aside from the spicey price, I would be touting this as the killer album of 2021.
