Description

Hey Mercedes – “Everynight Fire Works” Double LP

Hey Mercedes were born from the ashes of Braid sometime in the early 2000s (who in turn were born from the ashes of Friction, if memory serves correct). Braid had been top-dogs in the thinking person’s alternative rock/post hardcore scene of back-in-the-day (along with Cap’n Jazz, Jazz June, Je June…. etc) . Some called it ’emo’. Some still do. I try, as hard as possible, not to. And Hey Mercedes – with Bob Nanna’s distinct vocal style and that same cleverly intricate guitar work – continued where Braid had left off, adding a little more melody and pop-hookiness into the mix.
After a debut CDEP on Polyvinyl Records they switched to Vagrant and released the album Everynight Fire Works, to be then, fifteen years later, reissued by Run For Cover Records. Recorded by J. Robbins and now remastered. This special 15-Year Anniversary reissue is a double album that comes in a stunning gatefold jacket, and includes The Weekend EP (never before pressed on vinyl) & two cover songs.
