Description

Grimple / Logical Nonsense – “A Darker Shade Of Grey” split LP

Originally released in 1994 on the East Bay Menace label run collaboratively by (the late) photographer Murray Bowles and Filth Bassist Lenny Johnson. This split combined two of New Mexico’s fiercest hardcore bands on one LP. After their move to the East Bay Grimple’s sound had become satisfyingly more caustic and acidic; shedding some of the lookout!/pop sensibilities of the first LP for MDC style ragers and quick metallic riffing a la Celtic Frost (who they also cover). Their brother band, Santa Fe’s Logical Nonsense took an influence from early Neurosis and Extreme Noise Terror with a result that was dark and heavy, not unlike His Hero Is Gone. Their recording followed on from their lighter sounding debut LP released by Very Small Records; and preceded the two albums that were released by Tee Pee/Alternative Tentacles.
Remixed by Noah Landis from Neurosis/Christ On Parade and re-mastered by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service.  The packaging is true to the original but has been painstakingly recreated with slight upgrades, including a new 11 x 22” insert with band photos and lyrics.
