Gatecreeper – “Dark Superstition” LP
The third full-length by the Arizona death-metal specialists. With a sharpened-up edge, but still showcasing the same recognisable classic Swedish influence. Tentatively leaning towards a newfound rockier direction, “widening their sonic palette” with a little UK goth influence via Sisters of Mercy and Fields of the Nephilim. All delivered with an aggressive snarl, that clearly states ‘bro, hardcore is still very much in my DNA’. Recorded and mixed at God City Studios in Salem, Massachusetts, with Kurt Ballou.
